Police commissioners appointed

Elected officials may be appointed to the Police Commissioners Board and Southern Transportation Planning Committee Monday night.

The police board is composed of the mayor, two members of council and two citizens.

Coun. Crystal Froese, Coun. Chris Warren and Coun. Brian Swanson expressed their interest in occupying positions on the board. A ballot vote conducted by council will determine which councillors will be appointed as only two can join.

Warren was previously appointed to the transportation committee, but resigned. Council must decide amongst themselves who will join the committee in Warren’s place.

The term for dignitaries on the police board will begin Jan. 1, 2018 and conclude on Dec. 31, 2018. The councillor appointed to the transportation planning committee will begin immediately, concluding their term Aug. 31, 2018.
