Local teams hosting baskeball regionals this weekend

The Peacock Toilers will be hosting a 4A girls regional this weekend.

Moose Jaw will be plenty busy with high school basketball this weekend, as three teams will act as hosts for their regional championships.
The third-seeded Peacock Toilers will host one of the 4A girls regionals, with the sixth-seed Vanier Spirits taking on the Meadow Lake Spartans (11) in the semifinal tonight at 4:30 p..m. The winner will face the Toilers for one of four spots in Hoopla on Saturday (11:45 a.m., Peacock).
Melfort is the top seed in 4A girls, while North Battleford Comprehensive is second and Weyburn fourth.
Peacock will also host a 4A boys regional tournament. The second-seeded Toilers will take on 15th-ranked Churchill-La Ronge tonight at 6;15 p.m. while North Battleford John Paul II (7) plays Yorkton Sacred Heart (10) at 8 p.m.
The winners of those two games will play at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday at Peacock.
The 4A boys third-ranked Central Cyclones will play Notre Dame (14) tonight (6 p.m.) at Central, while Meadow Lake (6) takes on Warman (11) at 8 p.m.
Those winners will play at 12 p.m. at Central on Saturday.
The Vanier Vikings are the fourth-ranked team in 4A boys but are traveling to Saskatoon Bedford Road. Weyburn is the top-seeded 4A boys team.
The Caronport Cougars are the fourth-ranked 3A boys team and will host their regional beginning tonight when they take on Kindersley (13) at 6 p.m. Birch Hills (5) faces Eagleview (12) on the other semifinal.
That Hoopla qualifier will take place on Saturday at 12 p.m. at Margaret P. Reimer gym.
